# Big decision, best decision. Welcome Vend’s new CEO.

At the start of the year [I stepped out of the CEO role at Vend](https://vaughan.ai/blog/the-biggest-hiring-decision-i-ve-made-as-the-founder-vend/) to enable us to find someone with mad skills to take us from $20m of revenue to $100m. We appointed Alex Fala (trusted right appendage and all round phenomenon) as acting CEO and I immediately focussed the majority of my energies on product at Vend and to help find my replacement in the CE role.

Best decision ever.

Today I am pleased to announce that our quest for our next CEO is over.

Alex Fala, Vend Acting CEO is now no longer acting. He is, quite frankly, the real deal.

I have had the pleasure of working with Alex for some time now. He has held many roles at Vend. Head of Strategy, CFO and Acting CEO. He has constantly proven his ability to lead and run a fast moving organisation. The board and I are incredibly pleased to offer him the permanent role as Vend’s CEO.

We set our aim high in the search for a Global CE who can drive Vend through the next phase of growth, to get to $100m of revenues and beyond. And we drove a full external recruitment search for this person — and when it came down to it, the passion, cultural fit, perseverance, experience and exceptional ability we needed was pretty close to home. In fact he was in the lounge.

Alex is already running at pace with the momentum of everything exceptional happening at Vend right now. Largely due to his leadership over the last 4 months which has created more record breaking growth. I am looking forward to working with Alex at the helm as he continues the mission of transforming retail globally and making retailers incredibly successful with Vend.

It has also allowed us to develop our strategy for product and innovation to the next level. We were first on the cloud, first on iPad and now we are gearing up for another wave of value to deliver to retailers as the cloud revolution continues to disrupt retail forever.

Expect many more exceptional things to come under Alex’s lead.
