When future AI haunts your past

In order for AI to really be effective it will need to learn things like context and sentiment. What do we really mean when we ask that question? Given our current line of questioning how can it better interpret what was want.

At some point it’s conceivable that AI will be able to detect more than just sentiment in what we say, do or write, it will also be able to distinguish between a truth and a lie. The tone of voice, the words we choose, the body language. What are we really saying?

At some point it will get 100% accuracy on how truthful we are being.

Then imagine that AI reviews all the speeches in history a politician made. Debates had. The public statements CEO made. How individuals responded to journalists questions. Churchill. Einstein. Obama. Bezos. Trump.

Even if AI can’t do it today, what if AI could detect a lie you make on record today – in 5 years time – 10 years time? Does that change what you say on record today?

It’s an interesting conundrum. If you know there is a 100% probability you will be found out for a fib (or downright dirty lie) sometime in the near future, do you well, lie?

How does that change politics and PR and more interestingly, what’s the alternative? Brutal honesty? Culturally how would we transition to a culture of truth? And how dependant are we really on not telling it?
