Wisdom from Ducks

Well with everything that is going on in Mel’s and my lives things were reaching a critical mass of stress yesterday. It seemed there was far to much to be done and not enough time or will to do it all. Houses were being finished built, a businesses needed to be taken care of for while on honeymoon, a wedding was to be prepared and I wondered how could I cope.

Then while driving to work I received one of life’s little messages in the form of a mother duck and her ducklings crossing the busy road. I saw the ducks ahead and at first I had a sense of shock thinking the ducks and ducklings will be no match for huge cars on the busy road. But then, one by one the cars screeched, swerved and stopped and for one minute on an otherwise busy rush hour drive to work, mother duck overcame all the odds against her crossing that road and guided her ducklings to safety on the other side. All the while everyone in cars that day sat stopped and shared a smile and, I hope, shared the same message I got. When the world seems about to come down on you, keep your beak up and hold a steady course. Nothing is too big when it comes to family and loved ones.
